Have You Been Disqualified From Serving the Lord? - By Matthew Robert Payne
Many people think that they have sinned too much, they are too old, or that there is something that they have done or not done that has disqualified them from serving the Lord Jesus with their life. Are you one of them?
TEXT
Luke 22:50-51
"And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
But Jesus answered and said, 'Permit even this.' And He touched his ear and healed him."
I was listening to a teaching on the scene in the garden where Jesus was arrested, and when it came to these verses the preacher said that if a person had any blemish or anything wrong with their ears, like a deformity, then they could not serve the Lord as a high priest. I had wondered for years why Peter didn't run the broadsword right through the servant or had missed cutting his throat and instead had only cut off an ear!
Peter didn't miss.
Peter cut off the servant's ear not only to hurt the man, but to stop him from ever advancing into the role of the high priest.
This makes a much bigger impact when you see Jesus restore the ear. Jesus, the High Priest, and the servant knew what He was really doing.
Are you someone that has had their future stolen from you by the Evil One? Are you a person that thought you had a future in serving the Lord and now you find that you are not serving Him and you don't think you ever will?
Do you simply, like the servant, need the healing touch of Jesus? Do you need Jesus to lay hands on you and heal you from what hinders you?
I know that for many years I was hindered by my sin in an addiction. I spent years and years worth of my income on that addiction. My brothers and sister all have their own houses, and I live in a government rented property. If you look at my life, you could see failure.
But Jesus has redeemed me. Jesus has healed my wounds. Now I have many stories and illustrations that I can use when I preach that I would not have had if my life had always been on the straight and narrow path.
What is it in your life that you think hinders you?
Give it to Jesus, and He will make a way for you.
