Marriage Is Man and Woman - Lisa U Maki
The institution of marriage is the oldest institution there is. It started when God created the world.
So God created humankind in his own image; in the image of God he created him: male and female He created them (Genesis 1:27).
God created the man and the woman in His own image and likeness. Each of them represents certain characteristics of God.
Adonai, God, said, "It isn't good that the person should be alone. I will make for him a companion suitable for helping him. So from the ground, God formed every wild animal and every bird... (Genesis 2:18-19).
But for Adam there was not found a companion suitable for helping him (v. 20).
Then God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the person; and while he was sleeping, he took one of his ribs and closed up the place from which he took it with flesh. The rib which Adonai, God, had taken from the person, he made a woman-person; and he brought her to the man-person. The man-person said, "At last! This is bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh. She is to be called Woman because she was taken out of Man. This is why a man is to leave his father and mother and stick with his wife, and they are to be one flesh (vv. 21-24).
It is very clear, without a doubt, from Scripture, that God created a woman as the man's companion... a help-meet... a wife. The husband and the wife are to become one flesh, meaning, their union will represent the fullness of God.
Now, tell me, don't you think the devil wanted that? Do you think he was happy with the idea of joining the man and the woman to embody the richness of God? No way! He, the devil, had a plan from day one... and that is to destroy or discredit the very essence of marriage.
The enemy never appears obvious to people. On the contrary, he is the great deceiver and is God's copycat. Instead of telling people that he hates marriage, he presents a different outlook on marriage, making it look like the real deal. He took sex out of marriage and presented it to people as something that is just human nature. He even deceived others to believe that it is good to try your partner in bed before being married to the person. He even went as far as telling people that they can stay together without the covenant of marriage. To make matters worse, he now distorted the concept of man and woman in marriage and made it okay for man and man or woman and woman to be married.
There is a reason why God first created man and woman and not man and man or woman and woman. There is a reason why He instituted marriage as man and woman. Other than what I have already mentioned, that the man and woman together represent His fullness, God is a God of balance. Think about this... no matter how womanly a man feels, he will and will always look like a man. Even if he changes his sex organs, there will still be a part of him that will always remain a man. So, a man and a man is out of balance. This applies to woman and woman as well.
God created man and woman in marriage for procreation. And we all know that a man and man or woman and woman will never be able to make their own babies.
Just recently, I saw an ad from a lesbian couple, looking for a sperm donor. They want their own children, and since they can't produce children on their own, they now have to use a man's sperm to fertilize the woman's egg. How screwed up is that?
With the legalization of gay marriage in several states, the increasing number of teenage pregnancies, and the growing number of divorce, it is pretty obvious that the institution of marriage is being shaken and even destroyed by the enemy, more than ever.
It's about time, we, Christians, raise our standards. God set us, Christians, apart so that the world will know that we belong to Him. We can't compromise anymore or become tolerant. The world is getting more wicked because we are not doing our part.
Let's stick to what God says in His Word. Let's love others the way God loves... a love that never rejoices in evil. Let's be like Jesus in loving sinners... telling them to sin no more.
And for those of us who are married, let us uphold our marriage by totally surrendering to God every waking moment, and honoring the covenant that we have made with God. Let us make sure that we raise our children in the ways of the Lord, making God's Word as our standard in instructing and rearing them.
