Is The Bible a Necessary Part of a Relationship With God Ngozi Nwoke

The question is "does one really need the bible to walk with God?" it can also be asked this way, "what does a relationship with God entail?" To be able to answer the question one has to understand what the bible is. An understanding of what the bible is will determine whether it is a necessary part of a relationship with God.
The bible is the word of God. It is the manual from the creator to the created on how to live successfully with joy and peace on earth created by Him. It is the book that describes the nature of God, His ways and acts to the people made in His own image. The bible is a complete biography of God and His relationship with Man. It tells of His supremacy and love for mankind.
Paul describes the bible as follows in 2 Timothy 3:16, "All scripture (the bible - emphasis mine) is given by the inspiration OF God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (KJV)
Therefore, the bible is a necessary part of a relationship with God. Just like you can't operate a new machine unknown to you without the manual so also you cannot relate with God without the bible. The bible answers any question you will ever have. It gives solution to any challenge you will ever be faced with. It is able to do these because they are the words of God who is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.
Furthermore, you can't communicate effectively with God without the bible. How can one relate with a friend when you never know his opinion in any issue? The bible is God's opinions or will on all issues of life. He can never say anything outside what is written in the bible. The spoken and the written word must agree for any instruction to be considered as the word of God.
1 John 5:14 says, "And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us." (AMP)
The more you know and believe what is written in the bible, the more you know God and the better your relationship with Him. This is because you will be speaking the same language and operating from the same level with God. Daniel said in Daniel 11:32b, "but the people who know their God shall prove themselves strong and shall stand firm and do exploits [for God] (AMP)
In addition, the knowledge of what is written about God in the bible is what gives people the desire to relate with God. People make friends with others based on what they know about them. So also, many people have turned to follow God based on what they read or heard quoted from the bible about God. The bible is really a necessary part of a relationship with God.
In conclusion, just like a soldier cannot go to war without his weapons or a farmer to his farm without his implements so also no one can go into an effective relationship with God without the bible.
