The Importance of Prayer In Your Success Plan For The New Year

The Importance of Prayer In Your Success Plan For The New Year -  Ngozi Nwoke

Do you have a success plan for the New Year? What important steps are you taking towards achieving your goals? The fulfillment of your plans largely will depend on the steps you will take from now on. This post states the importance of prayer in your pursuit for success in the year.

Pray without ceasing - 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV)

So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting." - Mark 9:29 (NKJV)

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places - Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

Every believing Christian ought to be very fervent in prayer if he is to be successful in life.

A man of God said that where we are today is a result of prayers we prayed or didn't pray yesterday, and where we will be tomorrow will be a result of prayers we will pray or not pray today.

Prayer is so important that God said we should pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Also, the apostles emphasized the place of prayer in any success plan by choosing to give themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word rather than concerning themselves with the issues of serving the table (Acts 6:2-4).

Also, our Lord Jesus buttressed the importance of prayer in a believing Christian's life by His own prayer life. Though very busy serving God, the father, He always would go away from the people to go and pray. Many times He prayed all night, for example when He was to choose His twelve disciples, He prayed all night before doing so (Luke 6:12-16). Furthermore, Jesus told us that there are certain issues that will not just go away except with prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29). This makes prayer an important key in dealing with the issues of life.

The command to pray is not optional if your success plan for the New Year is to work. Jesus said in His sermon on the mount, "when you pray and not if you pray (Matthew 6:5-7)" indicating that praying is an exercise that every one of His followers must embark on if he is to be successful in life.

Why is it so crucial that you pray?
Our warfare is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). You can only defeat the enemy when your prayer life is strong. During prayers you surrender your battles and life issues to God, who alone can defeat the enemy. That is why the enemy would rather have you very busy doing the work of God than have you pray. He knows the importance of prayer and that is
why he would do anything to stop you from praying.

A prayer-less Christian is a powerless Christian. God is the all-powerful God and anybody who communicates with Him in prayer is empowered also to overcome even as He, God the father, overcomes. This, the devil, doesn't want you to receive.

In conclusion, your victory and success in life is a function of the strength of your prayer life. You must pray, whether you like praying or not, for your success plan for the New Year to be perfected. The good news is that the Holy Spirit is ever ready to help us, so engage His help, and joy and peace will be your portion.
